Fall at WWV – October 10, 2014
Fall is such a magical time at WWV, a time of great change…with a clear crispness to the air, a great time to kayak, to canoe and to hike the many trails nearby…
With the less-than-ideal weather this Fall, our week at WWV at the end of September coincided with a “heat wave” with almost dead calm water on the lake for several days. The lake water was still surprizingly warm, so some Owners including ourselves enjoyed swimming (with and without a sauna), possibly for the last time. It was great.
Fall is such a magical time at WWV, a time of great change, when the forest leaves change colour, with a clear crispness to the air, a great time to kayak, to canoe and to hike the many trails nearby – and mosquito free! Up river, we explored the various rapids including Miami Beach, Inspiration Point and Loran Rapids where we watched white water kayakers testing their skills in the fast moving river.
In reminiscing one evening, we realized that this is our sixth Fall season at WWV, and with owning an interval in two different cottages, we have now enjoyed over 50 week-stays in our home away from home. We still look forward to each week as there is always something different to see and explore: different Owners, scenery, atmosphere, character of the river and lake, wild flowers, wildlife, birds, to name a few – we never get tired of WWV! Perhaps road cycling is now gone for the year. ☹
This Winter, we hope again to skate on the pond, toboggan/slide to the beach, cross-country ski and snowshoe … and then relax with a brew or two in front of the fireplace. How sweet it is!
WWV is indeed our second home, one we enjoy sharing with our family and friends.
